Title: First semester multi -paragraph essay
Description: The first major unit in freshman English is writing. The emphasis is expository or essay writing. Throughout this unit, the foundations of how to write an effective mulitple paragraph essay are covered. The cumulative "quality work" assisgnment for this semester is to write a five paragraph essay which must include:
1. Introductory paragraph
2. Three body/supportive paragraphs
3. Closing/summary paragraph
A detailed description of this assignment will be made available to the students in class. The paper will be evaluated by Mr. Jordan and each student will receive individual instruction on how to modify their work to move it to quality level. The students may have two total attempts at achieving quality work.

Title: Second semester multi - paragraph essay
Description: Persuasive writing is emphasised for the second semester. Throughout the second semester, the students are given instruction and practice opportunities on how to write a convincing reasearch based persuasive piece. The cumulative "quality work" assignment for this semester is to write a five paragraph persuasive essay which must include:
1. Introductory paragraph
2. Three supportive/body paragraphs
3. Closing/summary paragraph
A detailed description of this assignment will be made available to the students in class. The paper will be evaluated by Mr. Jordan and each student will receive individual instruction on how to modify their work to move it to quality level.
