You can check out 4 titles at a time (books, magazines, overnight reference books, or vertical file articles).
Books have a 2-week checkout time; magazines 1-week. Need them longer? Renew them.BUT, what about those weekly Wednesday overdues notices? BEAT THE SYSTEM and renew BEFORE your books are overdue.
BUT, what if your book is at home? We aim to please. Even without your book or student ID, we can renew it for you. Just don't forget your name.
BUT, what if you LOST your book? Let us know, and we'll take you off the overdue list to give you time to search for it. You have until June 1st to find it before you would be fined for a lost book. However, you will be happy to hear that 90% of all "lost" books are found by June.
Come by the LMC to browse, read and research!

Teaching Experience:
Before moving to Snohomish, I worked in the Edmonds School District with developmentally delayed 18-25 year olds, and in the gifted program with first through fourth graders. Since 1992, I have been employed with the Snohomish District, beginning in special education for two years at SHS, as a library assistant at Valley View for three years, and from 1997 to the present, at SFC as library assistant and math resource assistant. I feel the opportunity to have worked with students of varying age levels and abilities has provided me with better insight and understanding in the role of teaching.
Prior to working in the field of education, I worked as a secretary for 20 years in various fields: engineering, banking, restaurant, private investigation, medical and child development.

One of my favorite links is 'Connect with a Librarian' which can be found on www.Sno-Isle.org, listed under the Homework help line. This web site provides a 24/7 service to receive instant help to research your topic and chat with a librarian.
I also use Internet Explorer frequently, as it allows you to choose from a number of different websites for research. Of them, Google is my favorite.
I
When someone asks me why in the world I choose to work with 14-15 year olds, I answer by telling them that this is a job where you see magic take place. Freshmen are still in a frustratingly wonderful transitional stage, and the personal growth that is visible within one year's time is short of amazing. I love witnessing their personal recognition and satisfaction when they understand something. Whether it's helping them find 'the' book, or solving a math problem, the light that comes on is what keeps me enthused about my work.
My husband, Rick and I have been married 33 years. My stepson Jeff is a manager at Microsoft. Our son Matt graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Chinese and is teaching English in Shanghai, and our daughter Rachel is employed in working with the blind community.
I enjoy reading, travelling, hiking, gardening, playing with our pets, cooking spicy food, attending plays, and I just began skiing last year.
Personal Highlights
Rick and I travelled to China this past Fall to see our son teach, and had the opportunity to visit four cities and see many sites in a wonderful, whirlwind vacation. Next on the agenda is either Turkey or Italy.
